Luke joined the Branston New Product Development (NPD) team in 2018. A dedicated ‘foodie’, Luke has always had a love of good food and from this he became interested in understanding more about how the food we buy from the shops is made. In the Branston NPD team he is involved in creating potato and sweet potato products – from the initial concept right through to launch into supermarkets. They complete market research into future trends for foods, flavours, textures and cooking methods for inspiration and interpret them into initial ideas for new dishes. Then they create prototype recipes and undertake extensive testing, before adapting into lines to be scaled up to be produced in the Prepared foods factory. Luke enjoys experimenting and sees potatoes and sweet potatoes as some of the most versatile fresh produce around. He really enjoys creating new spud recipes or enhancing and adapting existing ones and his job in NPD provides lots of great opportunities for that.
