If you’re looking for a way to treat your ‘Special Spud’ this Valentine’s Day but are stuck for ideas, nothing says ‘I love you’ than a home-cooked, romantic dinner for two.
However, special need not be expensive, and it’s easy to prepare a delicious meal on a budget and without following overly complicated recipes. Potatoes are cheap, versatile, suitable for most diets and rich in many of your essential nutrients.
Take a look at a few of our favourite dishes to share with your loved one this Valentine’s Day.
Our mild potato curry is a great base to work from and it’s easy to personalise in any way you would like. Get creative by adding chunky fish fillets or seafood or keep it classic with a fillet of chicken or pork. Serve with chapatti, naan bread or to really cook to impress, our Bombay potatoes with lemon and coriander yoghurt.
Recreate the classic Lady and the Tramp moment with our delicious spiralised potatetti. Potatoes are gluten-free, cheap to buy and richer in vitamins than pasta, so dust off that spiralizer and enjoy some delicious potatetti.
Potato, leek & rocket soup with blue cheese croutons
This is a deliciously rich and creamy soup, with the peppery bite of rocket. For a lighter, sharper version, try substituting the cream for crème fraiche.
Enjoy the tastes of the Mediterranean with our saucy Spanish-style potatoes. Great as a main course or side dish to share, the spicy chorizo and warming paprika perfectly complements the earthy flavours of the potatoes.
